The largest paramilitary force in the nation is the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). It was set up as the Crown Representative's Police in 1939. The CRPF Act passed in 1949 changed the name to the Central Reserve Police Force. It deals with law enforcement and counterterrorism in the country.
